Nicole Werner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) and the Director of the Wisconsin Institute for Healthcare Systems Engineering. Her research focuses on characterizing the patient work and work systems of patients and their care partners and translating these findings into technology interventions; understanding the home as a healthcare system and designing and evaluating technology interventions that ‘fit’ patient work in the home; and conceptualizing the patient journey as a cross-healthcare system process toward designing technologies and processes that improve health and healthcare delivery across healthcare settings.
